Spes Medical Centre has announced plans to host a comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health Camp at its Kitintale branch in Kampala on March 7, 2026, as part of activities marking International Women’s Day.

The one-day camp, scheduled to run from 8:00am to 5:00pm, will provide a range of free and subsidized health services aimed at improving access to preventive and maternal healthcare within the community.

Services to be offered include free HIV testing and counseling, urinalysis tests, blood pressure screening, diabetes screening and breast cancer screening. Ultrasound scans will also be available at subsidized rates.

The outreach follows a Dental Health Camp conducted on February 7, 2026, at the Namugongo branch under the Centre’s annual Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

That camp focused on preventive dental screenings and health education.

DrJawadu Niwamanya, Lead Doctor at the Kitintale branch, emphasized the importance of reproductive and maternal health interventions, particularly in communities where access to services remains limited.

“Reproductive health is foundational to family stability and national development. When maternal health services are accessible, we reduce preventable complications, maternal mortality, and newborn risks," Dr Niwamanya said.

"Early screening, timely antenatal care, and informed family planning empower women and couples to make safe, confident decisions about their health. Improving maternal health outcomes is not only a medical priority but a community responsibility."

The Centre said the upcoming camp will place special emphasis on supporting expecting mothers, promoting early child planning literacy and providing guidance to couples experiencing fertility challenges.

Uganda continues to face challenges related to maternal health, preventable infections and limited access to reproductive health education, particularly among underserved communities.

By offering free and subsidized services, the Centre aims to bridge knowledge gaps, encourage early testing and promote preventive care practices.

Dr Alice Hope Banga, director of Spes Medical Centre, said community outreach remains central to the facility’s mission.

“Giving back to the community is part of our underlying objectives and it is also in line with Ministry of Health guidelines and a responsibility we take seriously,” Dr Banga said.

“Healthcare costs continue to rise, but access must not shrink," she said.

"Our goal is to ensure that even with increasing operational expenses, communities can still receive quality, dignified care at affordable rates. We are investing locally in infrastructure and skilled personnel so that Ugandans do not have to travel far or pay excessively for essential services,” she added.

Established in 2022, Spes Medical Centre says it is focused on narrowing the healthcare access gap through community health camps, structured service delivery and technology-integrated care systems.

Dr Banga urged the public to attend the Sexual and Reproductive Health Camp at the Kitintale branch and take advantage of the services available.
